I am a tenured associate professor in the Department of Curriculum and Teaching in the College of Education at Montclair State University. As an alumnus of both the California State University system and New York University, I enjoy both coasts of the continental United States. My research and scholarship focus on the uses of technology to renew schooling and promote democratic practices—especially through media literacy education. I teach the undergraduate course, "Public Purposes of Education: Democracy and Schooling" (CURR 210) that is prerequisite to admission into the secondary teacher education program at MSU. I also teach "Integrating Technology Across the Curriculum" (CUR 316/518) for students enrolled in the undergraduate and graduate (secondary) teacher education programs. In 2009 I was elected to serve on the Board of Directors for the National Association for Media Literacy Education.
